  • “Get on the balcony,” orchestrate conflict, think politically, give the work back, and other Adaptive Leadership™ behaviors;
  • Develop capacity to face uncertainty about personal approaches and styles;
  • Effectively manage deep value conflicts within the organization and its people;
  • Strengthen their ability to face internal resistance while implementing major changes; and
  • Manage their personal vulnerabilities, care for themselves, and sustain their spirit.

Whether you tend to play it safe or are an inveterate risk taker, Learning to Lead Adaptively will give you the useful insights and practical behaviors you need to help you lead change more quickly and more successfully, and to help you keep your own head above the often turbulent waters of exercising leadership.

ADAPT New York: Pro Bono Partner and Finalists Announced

CLA is offering a new program called ADAPT New York: Ensuring vibrant and sustainable New York City nonprofits and is seeking applications from the New York City nonprofit community for the pro-bono engagement valued at $125,000.

The program - ADAPT New York is a year long engagement for a selected nonprofit organization. CLA will work with the nonprofit to co-design a comprehensive program that might include individual coaching for senior executives, leadership capacity assessments, team assessments, an Adaptive Leadership workshop for both employees and critical external stakeholders, and a leadership immersion program for key managers working on the critical business challenges.

Over the course of the last month, CLA received many applications from committed nonprofits across the city. Each nonprofit articulated the unique and compelling challenges facing them as they move forward and sustain their organizations in this current economic crisis. The decision process was a difficult one as all of these organizations need assistance.

After thoroughly evaluating each proposal and working with our partner JustMeans, CLA has identified a group of finalists. Please review the finalist organizations below:

The winner of the year long pro-bono engagement, valued at $125,000 is The International Rescue Committee.

While the challenges presented by all the finalists were tremendous, the combination of the urgency and impact within The IRC matched the criteria developed by Cambridge Leadership Associates (CLA). Founded in 1933, The IRC, headquartered in NYC, has 14 US and 26 international offices serving over 12 million people a year. CLA will be working across the organization and assisting more than 80 country directors in NYC to develop foundational leadership skills using the Adaptive Leadership framework.
