Alexander
Grashow
Alexander Grashow is a member of CLA's Executive Committee and Managing Director of its consulting practice. As such, he is responsible for the overall design and content of CLA programs as well as the recruitment and development of CLA associates and affiliates.
Having used and delivered programming, consulting, and coaching in the Adaptive Leadership framework for many years, Alexander has worked extensively with executive teams and is experienced in delivering adaptive leadership in a variety of formats. Among the CLA clients with whom he has worked are Watson Wyatt, CARE and the United Jewish Communities. Regardless of client, Alexander focuses on what change and impact are possible within the context of the assignment, whether it is a two-day or a two-year program.
Prior to joining CLA, Alexander was at The Synergos Institute, where he was the co-founder and director of the Bridging Leadership Program, which worked in partnership in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the United States to develop collaborations across sectors. In this capacity, he developed training, research, and communities of practice among international businesses, business schools, and national non-profits.
He is the co-author, along with Ron Heifetz and Marty Linsky, of a forthcoming book to guide practitioners in the hands-on, day-to-day work of exercising leadership and doing more for what they most care about. A graduate of Wesleyan University and a serious Japanese printmaker, Alexander derives "both joy and courage" from his wife and daughter. |

Jeffrey Lawrence
As a member of CLA's Executive Committee, Jeff Lawrence is deeply involved in the further conceptual development and practice of Adaptive Leadership and, as a CLA Principal, he is engaged with a variety of public and private sector organizations, helping them develop to build their leadership capacities. Among his current and/or recent clients are Watson Wyatt, Duke Corporate Education, Best Buy, Massachusetts School superintendents and Verizon.
With more than 25 years of experience in the fields of personal, organizational and business development, Jeff brings a broad range of capabilities to his Adaptive Leadership work. He has taught, coached and consulted with executive teams, CEO's, and work teams from five to fifty members. He is highly regarded for his platform as well as his one-on-one communication skills and works with CLA clients on a wide variety of issues, including strategy implementation, team building, succession planning, building alliances and leadership development.
Prior to joining CLA, Jeff's professional experience ranged from a corporate environment in financial services to starting and building his own company as a sole proprietor and as a partner with others. He holds a B.A. in English and an M.A. in Counseling from Colgate University. He currently teaches leadership at Northeastern University. |

Karen Lehman
Karen Lehman is a Senior Associate who has overseen significant CLA client work in the public, private and nonprofit sectors. Past engagements include work with the Icelandic education system, Best Buy, the Scottish Executive (civil service), and Parent to Parent, an advocacy group of parents of children with disabilities working for system change.
Karen brings more than 20 years' experience in advancing multi-stakeholder initiatives in both urban and rural areas, and internationally as well as domestically. A systems thinker by training and inclination, she has focused her career on the nexus between business, government, and civil society on issues ranging from trade policy to food systems.
Her training and expertise in Adaptive Leadership are extensive. Karen received a Bush Leadership Fellowship to attend Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, where she earned a Masters in Public Administration with a concentration in Leadership studies. She remained at Harvard as Ron Heifetz's teaching assistant in two of his Harvard courses before joining CLA. |

Marty
Linsky
has
had
extensive
experience
as
a
consultant,
facilitator,
teacher
and
trainer
in
leadership
with
a
wide
range
of
public
and
private
sector
clients
in
the
US
and
abroad.
He
is
a
prolific
author; his most recent book is Leadership
on
the
Line,
co-authored
with
Dr.
Ronald
Heifetz, with whom he co-founded CLA.
Marty
is
also
a
full-time
faculty
member
at
the
John
F.
Kennedy
School
of
Government
at
Harvard,
where
he
has
been
since
1979,
except
for
three
years
in
the
early
1990s
when
he
served
as
Chief
Secretary
and
Counsel
to
then-Massachusetts
Governor
Bill
Weld.
At
Harvard,
he
teaches
about
leadership,
press,
politics,
legislatures,
and
public
management.
He
has
been
faculty
chair
of
several
of
the
school's
executive
programs
on
leadership
and
public
management,
both
here
and
abroad.
Marty
is
a
graduate
of
Williams
College
and
Harvard
Law
School.
He
is
married
and
the
father
of
three
children.

Eric Martin
Eric Martin is CLA’s Business Director responsible for overseeing strategy development and implementation, finance and general operations. He has over a decade of experience in consulting and organizational development for nonprofit and philanthropic organizations, specializing in strategic planning, change management, impact assessment and evaluation, and financial management.
Previously in Japan, Eric consulted to local governments, international NGOs and private corporations. He is fluent in Japanese.
Eric is a Milano Graduate School of Management Master of Science candidate in Organizational Change Management. He holds a BS in Operations Research and Systems Analysis from the University of Michigan, with a minor in technical Japanese. |

Hugh O'Doherty
Hugh O'Doherty has consulted extensively with CLA, developing
Adaptive Leadership capacity in a wide variety of private,
corporate and public clients. A faculty member at Harvard
University's Kennedy School of Government, Hugh is involved
in many executive programs related to leadership.
A native of Northern Ireland, Hugh has consulted to many
international organizations, including the Northern Ireland
Mediation Network and the Center for International Understanding.
He has worked in Bosnia, Croatia, and Cyprus, and has addressed
the United Nations Global Forum on Re-Inventing Government.
In the US, his work often focuses on community and public
service challenges, such as assisting urban school superintendents
to develop the leadership required to address the complex
challenges inherent in meeting the requirements of the No
Child Left Behind Education Act. |

Kristin von Donop
Kristin von Donop has more than 20 years of experience helping public and private sector clients achieve strategic change. She has earned the trust and respect of senior executives running multi-billion dollar businesses in information technology, professional services and sales environments. She is known for her ability to mobilize people at all levels to address difficult issues that get in the way of business results. Kristin is adept at applying strategies and practices that help clients identify their most significant challenges, generate new solutions and exercise the leadership required to implement them.
Prior to joining CLA, Kristin was a leadership consultant for the top 10% of executives at IBM and previously was a member of the Organization and Human Performance practice at Accenture. Her tenacity and passion for her client's success distinguish her as a consultant. Her professional experience includes roles in strategy development, leadership development, business process design, organization design, change management, and executive coaching.
Kristin holds a BS in International Business from Northeastern University and MS in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She is an avid motorcyclist and has toured New England, Northeast Canada, Northern California, and New Zealand. |

Sousan Abadian
Sousan Abadian teaches, consults and facilitates in organizations
utilizing the Adaptive Leadership framework applied
by CLA. She specializes in non-profit and public sector organizations,
and her areas of expertise include the work of leadership
in community and international development, recovery from
collective and widespread trauma, orchestrating and managing
social change, and cultural renewal.
A graduate of Swarthmore College, Abadian also holds two
masters' degrees and a Ph.D. (in Political Economy and Government)
from Harvard University. |

Steve Boyd
Steve Boyd is deeply experienced in the practice and application
of the CLA adaptive leadership framework. Steve has engaged
with many clients in organizational development and the practice
of Adaptive Leadership, including experience across
corporate, public and non-profit sectors.
Steve was founder and president of the Washington Leadership
Institute and the Washington Governors' School for Citizen
Leadership. Founded in 1985, the Washington Leadership Institute
is a private, not-for-profit civic enterprise initiating model
programs in leadership development, civic education, community
service, and problem solving with youth and adults.
Married and the father of two daughters, Steve is a former
professional musician. He plays harmonica, flute, clarinet,
soprano sax, guitar, and congas. He is a former University
of Washington student body president and Eagle Scout, not
to mention that he also claims to be a world-class barbeque
chef. |

Kate Lye
Kate Lye is a senior associate with CLA and its lead representative in the United Kingdom. With 15 years of consulting experience in the UK and US, she is responsible for the overall design and content of CLA programs in Europe. Having used and delivered programming, consulting, and coaching in the Adaptive Leadership framework for many clients, Kate has worked extensively with executive teams and is experienced in delivering adaptive leadership in a variety of formats.
Among the clients with whom she has worked are Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse, BT, McKinsey, Microsoft, PricewaterhouseCoopers and AstraZeneca. She has worked extensively on M&A integration projects for large scale multinationals. Prior to joining CLA, Kate was a Partner at Stanton Marris, where she led their private sector business.
Kate is the author of numerous articles on leadership, organization development and executive competency. Kate is a graduate of London University and holds a B.A. in Business and an MSc in Organisational Behaviour and Psychology.

Ellen Meyer Shorb
Ellen Meyer Shorb works with the Adaptive Leadership™ framework in a wide variety of client settings where she designs and delivers workshops, provides consulting services, and supports the development of leadership cultures. She teaches leadership in the mid-career undergraduate program at Northeastern University. With more than 20 years experience in the nonprofit, private, and public sectors as a senior manager and consultant, Ellen has worked in Latin America, Europe and the former Soviet Union.
Previously, she worked in senior management for multiple nonprofits, in the fields of international development, international relations, affordable housing, and community development. Beginning in the 1980s she worked at the Program on Negotiation at Harvard University on crisis prevention and avoiding nuclear war between the Soviet Union and the United States. She also served as Advisor to the Chair and CEO of The Enterprise Foundation, where she oversaw a $30 million loan and grant portfolio disbursed to urban community development organizations in ten cities across the country.
She holds a Master in Public Policy from Harvard University, a MBA from Stanford University, and a BA from Dartmouth College. She was a Peace Corps volunteer in Honduras and is fluent in Spanish and conversational in French. She enjoys Latin music, strength training, and watching her four children grow up.

Lee Teitel
Lee Teitel is deeply practiced in the work of teaching and consulting on Adaptive Leadership, having worked for more than 15 years in educational leadership as a professor at the University of Massachusetts and as a lecturer and visiting professor (2004-2005) at Harvard University's Graduate School of Education. He recently became the founding director of the Executive Leadership Program for Educators, an innovative national effort based at Harvard that works with state commissioners of education and school superintendents, along with their leadership teams and key stakeholders. to bring high-quality teaching and learning to scale in urban and high-need districts.
With his CLA colleagues, Lee has worked with hundreds of school superintendents and principals across the country to help them understand and use Adaptive Leadership in their daily work. He has coached individual superintendents, helped set up on-going learning networks among superintendents and among principals, and has worked with intact leadership teams to support them in applying Adaptive Leadership ideas to the challenges facing their districts and schools. He also co-facilitates the Connecticut Network School Superintendents (with Richard Elmore) and has extensive experience in developing and evaluating leadership development programs for universities and school districts.
Lee has researched, published, and spoken widely on leadership issues and school/university partnerships. His most recent book is The Professional Development School Handbook (Corwin, 2003). Dr. Teitel holds both undergraduate and graduate degrees from Harvard as well as a graduate degree from Tufts University.

Lee Warren
Lee Warren has worked closely with Ron Heifetz and Marty
Linsky in the Adaptive Leadership program at Harvard
University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. She also
serves as Associate Director of the Derek Bok Center for Teaching
and Learning at Harvard.
Currently, she consults around the country, leading sessions
on leadership and strategic performance. Her particular interests
center on leadership development and practice, classroom diversity,
and case teaching as she works on issues of group process,
consults with groups and individuals, and leads workshops
and seminars.
With Ph.D. in English and American Literature from Stanford
University and a B.A. in Philosophy from Wellesley College,
Lee has taught at the University of Massachusetts, Boston,
and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. |

Maryann Hedaa
In her work with CLA, Maryann's imaginative approach to change
and leadership development challenges professionals to learn
how persuasive leadership, communication, and influence skills
empower individuals to strengthen their organizations. As
both executive educator and coach, Maryann designs leadership
development programs that link action learning and reflective
learning techniques, and she works with senior-level and high
potential professionals to help them achieve their professional
and personal goals.
Until recently, Maryann Hedaa was a director of Hildebrandt
International and a member of the Strategy Practice Group.
She has taught in the MBA and Executive MBA programs at Columbia
Business School and has served there as a faculty director
of the Global Leadership Program.
Maryann earned an MA from St. Mary's College, an MS from
Columbia Business School, an STL from the Weston Jesuit School
of Theology and a BA from St. John's University. She is an
active board member for St. Ignatius School, working to build
a Jesuit middle school for girls in the South Bronx. She enjoys
sailing, cooking, music, and raising Labrador retrievers. |

Mark Jamison
Mark Jamison is actively involved in working with the regulatory
and telecommunications industry as it addresses the significant
adaptive challenges associated with adjusting to new competitive
pressures.
He is the Director of the Public Utility Research Center
(PURC) at the University of Florida and serves as its Director
of Telecommunications Studies. He has held senior positions
in both the public and private sectors. A native of Kansas,
he recedived his Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Florida,
his M.S. in Agricultural Economics and his B.S. in Agricultural
Education from Kansas State University. |

Michael Johnstone
Michael Johnstone is recognized as an innovator in high-impact
leadership learning; he facilitates several national and international
executive leadership programs. He is also sought after for
his expertise in strategic thinking, communication, executive
coaching, and human systems.
With more than 20 years experience in individual, organizational,
and leadership development, Michael's accomplishments and
activities are numerous. Currently serving as Executive Director
of Vantage Point Consulting, one of Australia's foremost leadership
practices, he has been on the visiting faculty at Harvard
University's John F. Kennedy School of Government executive
leadership programs. Michael is a registered psychologist
and has held a variety of professional roles.
He currently calls Australia home, although he has lived,
worked, and trained in New Zealand, Israel, the United States,
Malaysia, and England, bringing an international perspective
to his work. Based on his multi-disciplinary training and
varied experience, Michael is known for his ability to draw
ideas from divergent fields to meet the needs of his client
groups, and for his energetic approach to his work. |

Jay R. Kaufman
Jay Kaufman brings to Cambridge Leadership Associates a lifetime
of teaching, and thinking about leadership. Jay's work with
CLA focuses primarily on engaging and empowering people and
institutions in the worlds of education and public life.
Currently in his sixth term in the Massachusetts House of
Representatives, Jay chairs the Committee on Public Service
and is widely recognized for his articulate leadership in
the State House and for "Open House," his award-winning,
televised public policy series. His main policy interests
include public education, health care, campaign reform, and
social and economic justice.
Jay was also recently named founding Director of Northeastern
University's Center for Leadership and Public Life where,
in addition to teaching, directing undergraduate and graduate
degree programs, consulting, and leading workshops on leadership
and public policy, he is charged with developing professional
development programming for community leaders and those in
both elected and appointed positions in state and local government. |

David Luna
David Luna is skilled in formulating fundamental organizational
strategies and models, leading executive groups, creating
and implementing action plans, revitalizing work structures
and processes, and managing change. Known for his values-based,
entrepreneurial spirit and his ability to lead effectively
through periods of uncertainty and ambiguity, David has applied
these abilities to a variety of causes.
David's work experience spans the public, private and non-profit
sectors and includes, extensive coaching, guiding Internet
startup companies, and developing and implementing numerous
leadership workgroups and strategic planning sessions.
David holds a JD from the University of Chicago, an MBA and
BA in psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
He is licensed to practice law in both Illinois State and
Federal courts. His community service includes numerous board
memberships in nonprofit education and charitable organizations.
David has recently set a new goal for himself: to compete
in a triathlon, a particular challenge, as he must first learn
to swim. |
