The CLA logo honors the challenge that exercising true leadership entails.

The center represents an opportunity for change, what we call an adaptive challenge. It is surrounded by all of the individuals and coalitions that have a stake in tackling—or avoiding—the problem. Each brings a set of loyalties, values, agendas, and, in some cases, fear of loss that influences how they see the problem, how they contribute to, avoid or try to derail a solution and how they interact with others. The leadership opportunity lies in recognizing these competing commitments and helping the various members work through impending loss, enabling them to move forward to achieve the organization's mission.
